So, it’s 3:33 AM and I haven’t slept since I can remember. I’m a bit groggy, but also bored, and I just remembered I’m supposed to do something like this… So here we go. I will be doing the game review for this weekend. The title above says it all.

Game: Prototype (Available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC)

Genre: Can’t really tell… or I can’t think of it due to lack of sleep, but I’d say an Action RPG. If I’m wrong, sue me.

Rating: M (Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language)

Publisher: Activision.

For those of you who haven’t even heard of this game, or have but have no clue what it is, let me give you some insight. Imagine taking Altair from Assassin’s Creed, giving him a black jacket instead of his white cloak, then giving him almost Spider Man like agility, along with some weaponry that remind me of God of War (Whipfist power) and Wolverine from X-Men (Claws power) and throwing that into the middle of a war torn New York City where the military is trying to kill you and an infection that is quickly taking over.

Now let’s get to the actual story.

You are Alex Mercer. You randomly wake up in a morgue, not having a clue how you got there or what’s going on, but you escape… only to be confronted with BLACKWATCH soldiers. Military soldiers who are trained specifically to take you down (a genetically altered human), along with the infection spreading throughout New York City. You quickly learn as you’re escaping the soldiers that you have special abilities and an excellent agility. Extremely high jumps. You’re quicker than any human. You can run up the walls of sky scrapers! And the juiciest part? You’re a shape shifter. You can call upon multiple powers to use, such as Whipfist, Claws, Hammerfist, Thermal Vision, Shield, and much more. After figuring out your powers, figuring out that you were used as a test subject against your will, and a few missions later, you finally confront with the infection, which leaves gooey patches like the Zerg across New York. Their tough Hunters and relentless numbers make them difficult to defeat, but enough patience and good planning (or dumb luck) and they will fall to pieces. Afterwords, you’re set out to do as you please as the game lets you roam NYC in an open-world experience so that you might kill with glee and cut people into bloody chunks, play through all of the side-missions and gain more EP (Evolution Points or E-Peen, as I like to call it) so you can upgrade and gain more abilities to cut people up with, or go straight through the campaign. It’s all up to you, just remember your one objective… Find the bastard that did this to you, and make him pay.

tl;dr: Run. Jump. Fly. Kill. Kill everything with awesome shape-shifting powers. The military thinks you’re the reason for the infection in NYC, so they will kill you on sight. The infection just doesn’t seem to like you or your jacket, so they will kill you on sight. Find and kill the bastard who made you like this.

I’m not lying.

Some may cry, however… this may be a good thing for the games we love. Both companies put out amazing games. Hopefully with the backing of a larger company, ID Software can expand like they claim and crank out some fucking amazing shit. On the flip side, Bethesda should be looking forward to a nice bump up in the graphics department.

Epic? Lets hope so.

Greetings,

I’m El Pinchazo,Warmaster of Terminus Est and I Co-Lead TEst with my hetero-eLifepartner Jodo. I was the second member of TEst when it was founded on January Thirteenth of 2008 and never seemed to have left .TEst has had many bumps and bruises along the way, growing pains are always to be expected. Yet I don’t expect that we are done growing, TEst is an ever-changing beast.

Why Join TEst? That’s a good question. Why join and group at all? TEst conducted business with just a handful of members for a  significant period after its inception. There TEst forged its identity as a tight community of coordinated gamers, eWarmongers, loudmouths with sledgehammer mannerisms. If any of that appeals to you then TEst might be the right place for you.

Why not to join TEst? If you are the type of individual that is out to make a name for themselves on the politico scene. If you THRIVE on Role-playing politics and diplomatic interactions. If  you don’t like war and cherish your precious pixels. IF you believe that all issues should be voted on and loathe the idea of  possibly taking orders. If you find profanity and off-color remarks to be unbearable then TEst is certainly NOT the place for you.

Well that’s all for the moment , feel free to post any question of comments.

This is a war universe. War all the time. That is its nature. There may be other universes based on all sorts of other principles, but ours seems to be based on war and games. ” -William S. Burroughs

Ello again my dear people, Gotooh here for another post \o/

Well I’ll get right to it. Overlord II is coming out in a few days and I just played the demo. I have to say that it is an awesome game, one that I will have to buy in….2 days. Sure it does seem like the first one, but there are some kick ass shit in here, like your minions can ride wolfs, kill seals, new units, kill seals, and you get to kill tons of cute animals.

I for one will be wasting my time killing the animals if you haven’t noticed, but I shall try my hardest at actually playing it right.

Also on another not, Steam games. I know some of you asshats have steam and are playing, I demand a friend invite and in return, I shall invite you to Terminus Est on steam. It’s not that I’m lonely, just need new peeps to play with, you know, new friends and all that shit. So come one, add Gotooh to your friends. It is the will of the Penguin Mafia (KoL shit)

For those whom witnessed the error and confusing front page, we have since corrected the problem at the source. It should not occur again.

Also, you may notice some of the graphics have been changed. This is because Phiney has been sacked in response to the sacking of our main page.

If you guys haven’t been checking these guys out, you definitely should. Today, they plugged our community and answered a mailbag question from myself (Jodo). It was nice to see and hear, and as always was a well made episode. I, personally, religiously watch and read these guys. I highly suggest others do so as well.

If your interested in seeing the plug, check it out here.

Now, to the heart of todays News. As always, we’re going to cover a game. Gaming news site, with gaming news? Crazy… I know.

Today, we’re going to talk about a game I just happened to pick up recently. It’s been out for a bit now, so some of you have likely played this. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I’ll cover the single player for now. I have yet to work my way through this games single player in the weeks I’ve had it. Not because I suck mind you, but I couldn’t bring myself to go right into easy mode. OH NO! I went with the regular/normal mode.

Firstly, the AI in this game is annoying. Not because it’s bad… but because its smart. They flank, they use grenades properly, and I’ll be damned… they can snipe and aim. This is no Halo where you can run and gun. It requires tactics and thought on the part of the player.

The weaponry in the game is pretty damn realistic. I’ve fired some of the weapons in the game, as I’m former military myself. And they behave just like you would expect. Also, there is a particular part in the game where you have to assassinate a target at long range with a sniper rifle. I’ll be damned. You actually need to adjust for wind, and the Coriolis effect. I shit you not.

Story line is a bit, meh. I like the middle east areas where you have to go from target to target in a city environment. The Russian ones, not so much. The overall story so far is interesting enough I suppose, and is in depth enough to have your attention. The gameplay and comments from the AI teammates are what really grabs you however, as they react much like a real person would.

I’d love to critic the mulitplayer portion, however I must be dumb-tarded this week and haven’t quite gotten PunkBuster to work correctly. Which, is an excellent program. I used to use it back in my Joint Operations days.

On an unrelated note, I keep promising t-shirts. And I will deliver soon enough. We’re still looking into them from multiple sources. CafePress might be the best option after all, as I won’t have to manually ship them all. However, I won’t be able to sign them like some people had requested as easily. So, I may buy a few and sign them (as well as some others) and then sell them at a slightly higher price to cover the shipping costs on my end.

Lastly, We’re working on the video portions of TEst news as well as getting the Officers and our Warmaster to get some posts and such up. I’m sure everyone is bored by now listening to me ramble on and on.

Today we took our first true step as a gaming community. The Fall, which is a brand new game that we helped create and test out has been opened and is in need of players. The designer has worked hard to accomplish his goal of making a fun game for all of us to enjoy.

Today, we launched an ad campaign through Project Wonderful to help the game out. Its a truly great game, and so we have donated $50 from the TEst funds to launch the campaign. It should be displaying across a fair number of browser based games here within the hour of this post. However, that is only one part. We still ask that everyone continue to spread the game by word of mouth. Play CyberNations? Get people to join from there. Nationstates? Hit em up. We want the game to grow as big as possible, and really show people what Terminus Est is capable of as a community.

Also on some TEst related news, you’ll find a link to Just Action News to the left. Visit them, leave some comments, and watch the videos. They are a good group and funny as all hell.

One last quick bit. T-shirts are going slower than I anticipated, and will likely cost a bit more than we estimated. However, we do have a printer and supplier. I’ll check them out a bit more (as they are local) and we can start selling them. Estimated cost is somewhere between $20-$25 bucks. This is a few bucks above cost, however the funds go into paying server bills here, as well as running campaigns to help out the gaming communities in need. So, its for a good cause. BUY A SHIRT!
